Qui nous rendait heureux mélancoliquement
Par cette après-midi de rêves sous les branches...

Branches mortes qu'aucun souffle ne remuait,
Branches noires portant quelque feuille fanée,
-- Ah! que mon âme s'est à ton âme donnée
Plus tendrement encor dans ce grand bois muet,
Et dans cette langueur de la mort de l'année !

que ens feia feliços melancòlicament
en aquest migdia quimèric sota les branques...

Branques mortes, que cap brisa no fremia,
branques fosques amb alguna fulla marcida,
- Ah, que mon ànima és a ton ànima donada
més tendrament encara en aquest gran bosc quiet,
i en aquesta melangia de la mort de l’any!
