Jag såg skönheten. 
Det var mitt öde! Däri ligger allt. 
Hur tackar jag därför? 
Färska rosor strör jag alla dagar 
brutna med heta händer 
framför din stod 
att ditt leende vilar därpå. 
Var får jag rosor 
som icke skända mina drömmar? 
Det är min lott - 
att alla dagar gå med rosor till min drottning 
och ligga snyftande vid hennes fötter... 
När skall jag stiga upp lätt som en fjäder 
att hämta rosen, den enda, den som aldrig dör.

J'ai vu la beauté.
C'était mon destin ! C'est là que tout réside.
Comment remercier pour cela ?
Je répands des roses fraîches tous les jours,
brisées par mes mains ardentes
devant ta statue
pour que ton sourire s'y pose.
Où puis-je trouver des roses
qui ne flétrissent pas mes rêves ?
C'est mon lot --
aller tous les jours avec des roses vers ma reine
et me coucher en sanglotant à ses pieds ...
Quand vais-je me lever, légère comme une plume
pour cueillir des roses, les seules qui ne fanent jamais.
