Men jag ville säga henne:
"Flicka, bort med frö och vatten!
Vet, din lilla muntra fågel
dricker endast ömma tårar,
lever blott av smek och kyssar."

La fenêtre de ma mie est ouverte ;
si j'étais un oiseau inconnu,
je volerais immédiatement vers elle.
Elle me mettrait dans sa volière,
emplirait le verre d'eau,
emplirait la mangeoire de graines.
Mais je lui dirais :
« C'est assez de graine et d'eau, ma mie !
Tu sais, ce gai petit oiseau
ne boit que de tendres larmes,
il ne vit que de caresses et de baisers.
