Auf einem nächtlichen Marsch
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT ENG FRE
Sturm und schräger Regenstrich,
Schwarze Felderweite,
Wolkenschatten feierlich
Geben uns Geleite.

Plötzlich aus erhelltem Schacht
Dunkler Wolkenhänge
Blickt die monderfüllte Nacht
Still in das Gedränge.

Himmelsinseln blauen rein,
Strenge Sterne grüßen,
Wolkenrand im Mondesschein
Wallgat [sic] in Silberflüssen.

Seele, Seele, sei bereit!
Ferne Brüder rufen
Aus der Finsternis der Zeit
Dich zu goldnen Stufen.

Seele, nimm das Zeichen an,
Bade dich im Weiten!
Gott wird deine dunkle Bahn
Noch zum Lichte leiten.

On a nightime march
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Storm and diagonal streaks of rain,
The black expanse of the fields,
Shadows of clouds solemnly
Accompany us.

Suddenly from the illumined shaft
Of the dark cloud-curtains
The moonlight-filled night gazes
Quietly into the throng.

Heavenly islands glow blue and pure,
Stern stars greet us,
The rim of the clouds in the moonlight
Runs in silvery rivers.

Soul, soul, be prepared!
Distant brothers are calling
From the darkness of time,
[Calling] you to the golden steps.

Soul, accept this sign,
Bathe yourself in the distance!
God will yet turn
Your dark pathway toward light.
