Sehnsucht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  DUT
Die stille Nacht umdunkelt
Erquickend Tal und Höh',
Der Stern der Liebe funkelt
Sanft wallend in [dem]1 See.

Verstummt sind in den Zweigen
Die Sänger der Natur;
Geheimnisvolles Schweigen
Ruht auf der Blumenflur.

Ach, mir nur schließt kein Schlummer
Die müden Augen zu:
Komm, lindre meinen Kummer,
Du stiller Gott der Ruh!

Sanft trockne mir die Tränen
Gib [süßer Freude]2 Raum,
Komm, täusche hold mein Sehnen
Mit einem [Wonnetraum]3!

O zaubre meinen Blicken
Die Holde, die mich flieht,
Laß mich ans Herz sie drücken,
Daß edle Lieb' entglüht!

Du Holde, die ich meine,
Wie sehn' ich mich nach dir;
Erscheine, ach, erscheine
Und läche Hoffnung mir!

Hunkering
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
De stille nacht omdonkert,
Verkwikkend, berg en dal.
De ster der liefde flonkert
In ’t meer, zacht wiegend al.

Verstomd zijn in de bomen
De zangers der natuur;
Een raadselachtig dromen
Hangt over bloem en dier.

Slechts ik word door geen sluimer,
Vermoeid, in slaap gesust:
Kom, maak mijn kommer kleiner,
Jij, stille god der rust!

Droog zachtjes mij de tranen,
Maak mij een beetje blij,
Bedrieg met droomwenswanen
Dat hunk’rend hart van mij!

O, laat mijn blik verrukken
De schat die mij ontvlucht,
Laat mij aan ’t hart haar drukken,
Met eed’le liefd’ als vrucht!

Jij lieve, mijn icoontje,
Wat hunker ik naar jou;
Vertoon je, ach vertoon je,
Geef hoop mij, glimlachvrouw!
