Lockte mich ein Irrlicht hin:
Wie ich einen Ausgang finde,
Liegt nicht schwer mir in dem Sinn.

Bin gewohnt das irre Gehen,
'S führt ja jeder Weg zum Ziel:
Unsre Freuden, unsre [Wehen]1,
Alles eines Irrlichts Spiel!

Durch des Bergstroms trockne Rinnen
Wind' ich ruhig mich hinab -
Jeder Strom wird's Meer gewinnen,
Jedes Leiden auch [ein]2 Grab.

’Stigh i mbéal an duibheagáin
Language: Irish (Gaelic)  after the German (Deutsch)
’Stigh i mbéal an duibheagáin
Chuir an solas mé ar strae;
Má tá éalú dom i ndán
Nílim buartha ina thaobh.

Táimse cleachtach ar an bhfánaíocht,
Tá sprioc amháin ag gach cosán:
Cúrsaí bróin is cúrsaí áthais
Níl i gceist ach tin’ ghealáin!

Sruthán sléibhe i ndísc ‘tá faram,
Táimse ag siúl liom fan a bhruaigh,
Téann gach sruthán chun na mara
Gabhann gach buairt isteach san uaigh.
