Ihr Stellen, ihr geweihten Plätze,
Ihr trugt ja das geliebte Bild,
Was Wunder habt ihr, was für Schätze
Vor meinen Augen dort enthüllt!

Ihr Gärten all, ihr grünen Haine,
Du Weinberg in der süßen Zier,
Es nahte sich die Hehre, Reine,
In Züchten gar zu freundlich mir.

Ihr Worte, die sie da gesprochen,
Du schönstes, halbverhauchtes Wort,

Herinnering

O wonderschone ogenblikken,
De liefste vrouw die er bestaat
Gaf jullie met haar blije blikken
Een zoete glans die nooit vergaat.
 
O plekken, dierbaar niet te vatten,
Hoe was je van haar beeld vervuld,
Welk wonder heb je, wat voor schatten
Vaak voor mijn ogen daar onthuld!
 
O tuinen ook, o groene dreven,
Jij wijnberg met je heerlijkheid,
Daar kwam naar mij, zo rein, verheven,
Te vriend’lijk haast, die lieve meid.
 
O woorden, daar door haar gesproken,
Jij mooiste, half gezuchte woord,
Jouw toverban wordt nooit verbroken,
Jij klinkt en werkt nog altijd voort.
 
O wonderschone ogenblikken,
Je lacht en lokt, vol flonkering;
Van heimwee moet ‘k een traan wegslikken,
Vol smart, genot en hunkering.
