Waldemar: Nun dämpft die Dämm'rung jeden Ton von Meer und Land, Die fliegenden Wolken lagerten sich wohlig am Himmelsrand. Lautloser Friede schloß dem Forst die luftigen Pforten zu, und des Meeres klare Wogen wiegten sich selber zur Ruh. Im Westen wirft die Sonne von sich die Purpurtracht und träumt im Flutenbette des nächsten Tages Pracht. Nun regt sich nicht das kleinste Laub in des Waldes prangendem Haus; nun tönt auch nicht der leiseste Klang: Ruh' aus, mein Sinn, ruh' aus! Und jede Macht ist versunken in der eignen Träume Schoß, und es treibt mich zu mir selbst zurück, stillfriedlich, sorgenlos.

Waldemar Ara el capvespre esmorteix tota la fressa del mar i de la terra, els núvols volanders s'han aplegat confortablement al marge del cel. Una pau silent ha tancat les airívoles portalades del boscatge, i les clares onades del mar es bressen elles mateixes al repòs. A ponent, el sol gita el seu mantell púrpura i somia, en el llit de la marea, l'esplendor de l'endemà. Ara no es mou ni la més petita fulla en el resplendent estatge del bosc, ni se sent el més lleu dels sons, reposa, esperit meu, reposa! I tot el poder s'ha enfonsat al faldar dels propis somnis, i m'empeny enrere vers mi mateix, pacíficament, sense tribull.
