Einst liebte ich, entbrannt durch zwei fatale Blicke,
glaubte der Freundschaft des Mädchens ohne Flügel,
Torheit junger Jahre, trügerisches Bild.

Schenket mir ein vom Weine, des Herzens Seligkeit.

Der Freund, die Geliebte, sie ziehen von dannen;
doch du fürchtest dies nicht, was alles vernichtet:
das Alter kränkt dich nicht, es macht dich stärker.
Verblüht ist der April, gefallen die Rosen,
