Les deux roses

Hier, sous la verte tonnelle, 
J'aperçus Rose qui pleurait,
Et, pleurant, de larmes couvrait 
Une rose moins rose qu'elle. 

Qui peut te causer tel regret ? 
Dis-je à la blonde colombelle. 
Ah ! Monsieur, répondit la belle,
Entre nous c'est un grand secret ! 

Je passais là, lorsqu'une rose, 
Celle-là que de pleurs j'arrose, 
M'a dit de sa plus douce voix : 

« Rose ouverte plus ne se ferme !»
Et mon cœur qui s'ouvre, je crois, 
Au petit pâtre de la ferme !
