Labetrank der Liebe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations: CAT DUT ENG FRE
Wenn im Spiele leiser Töne
Meine kranke Seele schwebt,
Und der Wehmuth süße Thräne
Deinem warmen Blick [entbebt]1:
Sink' ich dir bey sanftem Wallen
Deines Busens sprachlos hin;
Engelmelodien schallen,
Und der Erde [Schatten]2 fliehn!
So in Eden hingesunken,
Lieb' mit Liebe umgetauscht,
Küsse lispelnd, Wonnetrunken,
Wie von Seraphim umrauscht:
Reichst du mir im Engelbilde
Liebewarmen Labetrank,
Wenn im schnöden Staubgefilde
Schmachtend meine Seele sank.

Refreshing drink of Love
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
When, upon the playing of soft tones,
My sick soul [begins to] float,
And the sweet tears of melancholy
Evaporate under your warm glance:
I sink onto the gentle heaving
Of your bosom, speechless;
Angelic melodies sound,
And earth’s shadows flee.
In this way, sunk down in Eden,
Love exchanged for love,
Kisses whispered, drunk with delight,
As if surrounded by seraphim:
You serve me, with the face of an angel,
A refreshing drink warmed by love,
Just as, into the vile dust of the fields,
My soul was about to sink.
