Er liebte mich so sehr!
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the French (Français)
Our translations:  ENG
        Er liebte mich so sehr!

Ich schmückte mich für ihn, ihm wollt ich gern gefallen;

Wirst du doch mit mir gehn?" Ich sagt es zu und brach mein Wort;
        Er liebte mich so sehr!

Drauf hat er dieses Haus, meine Nähe gemieden;

He loved me so much!
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
No, no, I did not love him! during the fervour of his wooing
My cheeks glowed, but my heart was heavy.
I fled before his gaze, I was so fearfully anxious!
        He loved me so much!

I adorned myself for him, I very much wanted to please him;
With flowers I adorned my curls, my breast.
I spoke only to him, and trembled nevertheless.
        He loved me so much!

But once he said to me: "In the familiar garden
You shall surely walk with me?" I agreed -- and broke my word;
He went thither in vain, I let the poor man wait.
        He loved me so much!

Thereupon he eschewed this house, my presence;
Woe unto me! alas, he cursed me as he went!
I shall never see him again; we are forever parted!
        He loved me so much!
