Qui, en el futur, ensenyarà el teu petit fill de llançar la javelina i d’honorar els déus, si el tenebrós Orc et devora? Hèctor: Estimada esposa, refrena les teves llàgrimes! El meu desig ardent em crida a la batalla per protegir Pèrgam amb aquests braços. Si moro lluitant per la sagrada mansió dels déus, com salvador de la pàtria, davallaré al riu Estix. Andròmaca: Mai més sentiré el ressò de les teves armes, la teva espasa restarà inútil a l’estança, l’heroica nissaga de Príam es perdrà. Aniràs on el dia ja no brilla, el Còcit plora a través dels deserts, el teu amor morirà en el Leteu. Hèctor: Tots els meus desigs, tots els meus pensaments, els enfonsaré en el tranquil corrent del Leteu, però no pas el meu amor. Escolta! La turba furiosa ja és a les muralles, cenyeix-me l’espasa, deixa els laments! L’amor d’Hèctor no morirà pas en el Leteu.
