Männertreu
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  FIN
Es ging einmal ein Wind,
[Ei,]1 ging einmal ein Wind;
Er ging wohl über Stock und Stein,
Und fand ein blaues Blümelein,
Das bracht er mir geschwind.

Und das heißt Ehrenpreis,
Ei, das heißt Ehrenpreis;
Es blüht nicht für die Ewigkeit,
Es blüht bloß eine kurze Zeit,
Dann ist es welk und weiß.

Es heißt auch Männertreu,
[Ei,]1 heißt auch Männertreu;
Mein Schatz, der mich so viel geküsst,
Ich weiß nicht, wo er blieben ist,
Das Lieben ist vorbei.2

Miehen uskollisuus
Language: Finnish (Suomi)  after the German (Deutsch)
Puhalsipa kerran tuuli,
niin, puhalsipa kerran tuuli;
se kulki yli kivien ja kantojen
ja löysi pienen sinisen kukan(1),
sen se toi minulle heti.

Sen kukan nimi on kunniapalkinto,
niin, kunniapalkinto;
eihän se ikuisesti kuki,
se kukkii vain vähän aikaa,
sitten se on lakastunut ja valkea.

Sen nimi on myös miehen uskollisuus
niin, sen nimi on myös miehen uskollisuus;
kultaseni, joka minua niin paljon suuteli,
en tiedä, missä hän piilee,
rakkaus on ohitse.
