Gondellied
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Kroezlende golfjes die babblen en tateren,
Huppelen rond om den boot;
Glinstrend spatten de wateren
Onder zijn krachtigen stoot.

De avondzon ontsteekt den hemel
In haar bree, den purpergloed,
En haar blikkrend vuurgewemel
Danst in 't wieglen van den vloed.

Dwars door 't rimplend water kronkelt
't Zonnebeeld in gouden spoor,
En van wederzijde vonkelt
't Goud de waterplooien door.

Blinkend pad van hemelglansen,
Vuurbaar over 't spieglend veld,
Die van verre zonnetransen,
Naar ons dobbrend bootje snelt.

Gondellied
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Dutch (Nederlands)
Spielet, ihr Wellen, ihr schwanken und schäumenden,
hüpft um den schaukelnden Kahn;
wallet, ihr sprühend sich bäumenden,
wo sich die Ruder euch nah'n.

Holder Abendsonnenschimmer
taucht den See in Purpurglut,
und ein stäubend Goldgeflimmer
spiegelt sich in klarer Flut.

Funken blitzen um die Welle,
d'rin ein Goldstrom leuchtend zieht;
scheidend grüßt die Sonnenhelle,
eh' im Westen sie verglüht.

Glanz aus hehren Sternenkreisen,
Feuerbahn auf lichtem Feld,
leucht' uns immer, die da reisen
auf dem dunkeln Meer der Welt.
