by Aleksei Konstantinovich Tolstoy, Count (1817 - 1875)

Starickij voevoda
Language: Russian (Русский)
Kogda byl obvinën starickij voevoda,
Čto, gordyj znatnost'ju i drevnostiju roda,
Prisvoit' on sebe mečtaet carskij san,
Predstat' emu velel pred oči Ioann.
I osuždënnomu podnës venec bogatyj,
I rizoju oblëk iz žemčuga i zlata,
I barmy vozložil, i sam na svoj prestol
Po šëlkovym kovram vinovnogo vozvël.
I, vzor pred nim skloniv, on pal sredi palaty,
I, v zemlju klanjajas' s pokornost'ju trikraty,
Skazal: «Dovolen bud' v veličii svoëm,
Se az, tvoj rab, tebe na carstve b'ju čelom!»
I, vsprjanuv tot že čas so zloboj bespoščadnoj,
On v serdce nož emu vonzil rukoju žadnoj.
I, lik svoj naklonja nad sveržennym vragom,
On nastupil na trup uzornym sapogom
I v oči mërtvye gljadel, i s drož'ju zybkoj
Deržavnye usta zmeilisja ulybkoj.
