by Maria Teofila Mayer (1871 - 1909)
Translation possibly by Bohdan Sylvestrovych Lepky (1872 - 1941)

Zyma
Language: Ukrainian (Українська)  after the Polish (Polski)
Pusto, sumno, kvity hynut',
Jde do nas zyma v hostynu;
To morymy jde, to šljachom,
Klyče nuždu siromachu.
Šljach čy pole miryt' krokom,
A de til'ky kyne okom;
V’janut' kvity, merznut' vody;
Vid hospody do hospody.
Tam, de zachid, soncja blysky
Zlotjat' kosy ïj perlysti,
Viter chodyt' polem bilym,
Sribnym vse vkryvaje pylom.
U sil's'kij chatyni mylij
Na šybkach puchnastyj inij,
Vzjavs' moroz riz'byty kvity,
Ščob mali radily dity.
Chmar snižnych nesut'sja zhraï,
Bil' i smutok serce kraje
Pid Chrystovi stavšy muky,
Lomyt' zadubili ruky...
Hrajet'sja moroz sl'ozamy,
Stohin jde u dal' poljamy,
Bil' tychen'ko skarhu šepče,
Vid strachu chovaje serce...
