Staying overnight in the temple of Yeshi to wait for Ding Da who didn’t show up
Language: English  after the Chinese (中文)
The sun sets slowly behind the west side of the mountain,
All the mountains are suddenly dark and quiet.
The bark of pine trees is cool in the evening with the moon shining there,
The sound of wind blowing and creek flowing is extremely clear.
The woodcutters are almost gone,
The birds return to their nests for rest in the foggy woods.
You (Ding Da) have promised to come to the temple tonight,
I am waiting for you while playing the guqin on the mountain path.
Note for line 8: a guqin is a kind of plucked musical instrument with seven strings
