By's rány vyhojila.

A Ty v své lásce horoucí
Mě jak sfinx objala jsi:
A v moje srdce práhnoucí
Trn nový vrazila jsi.

Note: for stanza 1, line 1, word 2, the website antonin-dvorak.cz shows "sladká". The Bärenreiter edition of Dvořák's setting (2013) follows the Pfleger-Moravský edition. O my wonderful, golden rose,
morning’s harbinger of spring,
your bitter-sweet pain enthralls
my whole life, my desiring.

With all your lovely gracefulness
you dwell firmly in my breast,
I’m beholden to your goodness;
all ills shall heal at your behest.

Now, with a fond loving passion,
like a sphinx you embrace me,
yet you pierce with a new thorn
my heart that pines so badly.
