Polajko, polajko,
dávno zme sa znały,
keď zme šohajovi
społu čarovały.
Nečarovała sem,
ani má mamička,
než mu čarovały
mé černé očička.
Čarovały jemu
moje černé oči,
keď jich viděł ve dně
mušeł přijít v noci.
Čarovała jemu
ma bíłá hubička,
keď mu ščebetała
jako laštovička.

Flower of the Field
Language: English  after the Moravian (Moravština)
Dear flower of the field,
long since we’re acquainted,
for together we charmed
my darling beloved.
I could not charm him yet,
nor mumsy, I regret,
until I worked the charms
of my lovely dark eyes.
Enchanted he became
when my dark eyes he saw,
and was sure to return
at night time then once more.
Enchanted he became
when my soft lips he heard
twitter away to him
like a wee swallow bird.
