Stóji šohaj pod naším okénkem,
ťuká na mňa svým złatým prsténkem:
puste ňa ven, má mamičko dobrá,
půjdu k němu na dvě, na tři słova.

Má mamičko, prosím vás pro Boha,
už sem mu aj pérečko uviła;
jak mu svědčí za jeho klobúčkem,
jak mé líčko s jeho pravým líčkem.

A Garland

Below our window there stands my lover,
he’s tapping for me with his ring of gold:
let me go out of the house, mother dear,
so he and I can just have a brief word

I have even made him a fine garland,
oh mother dear, go on, for goodness sake;
see how it suits him to wear with his hat,
as when we are together cheek to cheek.
