turecké pomezí,
ej nejednéj mamičky
synáček tam leží.
 
Ej, která má mamička
Na vojně synečka,
nech sa ona podívá
zrána do słúnečka.
 
Je-li tak červené,
bude porúbaný
a je-li zatměłé,
bude pochovaný.

Belegrad, Belegrad,
in Turkish borderland;
hey! many a mother’s son
lies here upon the ground.

O, if there’s any mother
has in the war a son,
let her go out to observe
the sunrise in the morn.

If it shows all bright red,
then he will be wounded;
if by clouds it is hid,
then he will be buried.
