Remorse
Language: English  after the German (Lower Austrian)
In my homeland I had a lass, loving and good,
but I left her; o how do I repent of that!
O my lass, my beloved,
could I but be with you once more!
O my lass, my beloved,
could I be with you!
I know many foreign lasses now, I've gone everywhere;
all of them only played with me and made a fool of me.
O my lass etc.
In Paris there was one that embraced and kissed me passionately,
then she spotted a more handsome fellow, and that was the end of it.
O my lass etc.
In Hungary and Poland they're not a bit better,
they talk, deceive and lie like mad.
O my lass etc.
You lads in Austria, believe me: Foreigners are quite strange,
therefore don't leave your homeland, or you'll join me in singing:
O my lass etc.
