Die Tulpen heben ihre Kelche
mit keckem Sinn zum Himmel auf:
sie wollen Wein zu trinken haben.
Der Ostwind streift verliebten Sinnes
der Rosenblüten junge Busen,
daß ganz sie aus den Miedern quellen.
Durch diese edeln Spießgesellen
wird meine Tugend nicht gefördert:
sie ziehn mich in den Sündenpfuhl!
O Freunde! seid des Schönen,
Reinen und Unverfälschten stets beflissen,
rein sei der Wein auch, den ihr trinket.
Und wenn ich einmal tot bin,
scharrt mich nicht in die trostlos dumpfe Erde,
tragt mich in einen duftigen Keller,
begrabt mich in ein Faß voll Wein.
