Mir Ruhe zu verkünden;
Nur ich allein mit meiner Pein
Vermag sie nicht zu finden.

Wann läutest du denn mir zur Ruh'
Von deinem Kirchlein droben?
Sei ruhig, Herz! Ein jeder Schmerz
Hört einmal auf zu toben.

Einst wird dich schon des Glöckchens Ton
Mit deiner Qual versöhnen.
Und schweigt der Klang auch noch so lang,
Er muß doch endlich tönen!

La petita campana ressona per la vall,
anunciant-me el repòs;
només jo, tot sol amb la meva pena,
sóc incapaç de trobar-lo.

Quan repicaràs per al meu repòs
des de l’ermita allà dalt?
Resta tranquil, cor meu! Tots els dolors
deixaran un dia d’enfurir-te.

Un dia, el so de la petita campana
es reconciliarà amb el teu dolor.
I com que la campana de fa molt temps no repica,
finalment un dia haurà de sonar!
