Abendglöcklein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations: CAT ENG FRE ITA
Des Glöckchens Schall durchtönt das Tal,
Mir Ruhe zu verkünden;
Nur ich allein mit meiner Pein
Vermag sie nicht zu finden.
Wann läutest du denn mir zur Ruh'
Von deinem Kirchlein droben?
Sei ruhig, Herz! Ein jeder Schmerz
Hört einmal auf zu toben.
Einst wird dich schon des Glöckchens Ton
Mit deiner Qual versöhnen.
Und schweigt der Klang auch noch so lang,
Er muß doch endlich tönen!

Little Bells of Evening
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The sound of bells echoes in the valley,
Proclaiming tranquility to me;
Only I, alone with my pain,
Am unable to find any peace.
When will you call me to rest,
From your tiny church on high?
Be calm, my heart! Such torment
Cease from raging.
One day the bell will sound for you
To appease your anguish.
And though the sound may not be for some time,
It must in the end finally ring!
