by Friedrich Hermann Frey (1839 - 1911), as Martin Greif

Morgengang
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich geh' auf stillen Wegen
Frühtags ins grüne Feld,
Wie lacht mir da entgegen
Die junge Morgenwelt!

Wohl tausend Blüten schauen
Von Wald und Wiesen her,
Die alle tropfig tauen,
Von edlen Perlen schwer.

Ich brech' mir ein Geschmeide
Von nassen Rosen ab:
Wärst du an meiner Seite,
Von der geträumt ich hab'!

Ich hing' dir's in die Locken
Als deinen Hochzeitskranz --
Da geh'n die Morgenglocken,
Ich steh' in Tränen ganz.

Confirmed with Buch der Lyrik von Martin Greif. Gedichte. -- Neue Lieder und Mären, Leipzig, C. F. Amelangs Verlag, 1909, page 5.
