Und feurig geißelt das Gespann der Pferde,
Wer brünstig ringt nach eines Zieles Ferne,
Von Staub umwölkt - wie glaubte der die Sterne?

Doch das Gespann erlahmt, die Pfade dunkeln,
Die ew'gen Lichter fangen an zu funkeln,
Die heiligen Gesetze werden sichtbar.
