Most beautiful adornment of this our earth, Purest virgin, unscathed one, Mother of God, we greet Thee! Who in faithful love Dedicated all Thy desires to God Oh Mary, we greet Thee! Already in Thy earliest youth Thou performed faithfully every virtue, Lived piously and purely as an angel; As the purest lilies bloom, As the most beautiful roses glow, Thou bloomed for God alone. Far from all the bustle of the world Thou livedst solely for Heaven, Humbly, with a quiet spirit; In the earnest, holy striving To serve God, thy life flowed on In prayer and labour. What happiness must Thy parents Have often felt in stillness, Oh Mary, in Thee! Because Thou lovedst God so fervently, [Because Thou] never saddened Thy parents, Gavest them such heartfelt joy. Walking on the path of virtue, Thou workedst ever with the grace That the Lord, Thy God, gave Thee. And with new mercies the Lord Adorned Thee, [the Lord] who looked beneficently Down upon Thee, pious maid! Who can praise Thee as Thou deserveth, Thee, whom God himself has elevated so highly To be the Mother of His Son! We Christians join in with The worship of the choirs of angels Who sing praises of Thy honour. Take pity, Mary, also upon Us sinners, take us into Thy motherly love As Thy children. For see! without our sins Thou wouldst not have found the grace That the Lord showed Thee. Plead for mercy for us To Him who in Thy arms Once rested as a little child. He shall surely hear Thy pleading, Shall look upon us with mercy Shall surely be reconciled with us. We have earned punishment, But Thy Son hath suffered The pangs of death for our sake as well. Plead for us! we resolve to strive To live more piously than in the past, In order to be worthy of Thy love. Oh Mother, help our youthfulness In the battle for virtue When temptation stirs; Help us so that we do not succumb, Help so that we may vanquish the foe Who so often sets us snares. Teach us to love God with all our hearts, To diligently practice every virtue, Extend Thy motherly hand to us! So that obediently, piously, modestly, In joy as in sorrow, we may Serve God here in our pilgrimage through life. Help, Mother, that in everything We may always strive to please God With the pure spirit of innocence! Help us, Mother! when we are in danger, Thy help shall protect us, Remain our Mother always. May Thy motherly love ever Give us help in the final battle, So that we may pass away blessedly, And someday in the heavenly heights See Thee with Thy Son, Virgin, Mother, Queen!
