Wat staar je steeds mij aan, Verwaand, brutaal, vol leedvermaak, Mij, arme, witbestoven man! Liefst zou ‘k gaan liggen vóór haar deur, Al stormde en sneeuwde het fel, En zingen heel zachtjes bij dag en nacht Dat ene woordje: Vaarwel!
