A szerelem, a szerelem
Language: Hungarian (Magyar)
Available translation(s): ENG ENG
A szerelem, a szerelem,
A szerelem sötét verem;
Beleestem, benne vagyok,
Nem láthatok, nem hallhatok.
Őrizem az apám nyáját,
De nem hallom a kolompját;
Rá-rámegy a zöld vetésre,
Hej csak későn veszem észre.
Telerakta édesanyám
Eleséggel a tarisznyám;
Elvesztettem szerencsésen,
Lesz módom a böjtölésben.
Édesapám, édesanyám,
Ne bizzatok most semmit rám,
Nézzétek el, ha hibázok
Tudom is én, mit csinálok!

Love, love
Language: English  after the Hungarian (Magyar)
Love, love,
love, o dark hole,
I have fallen in, I am well inside,
invisible, inaudible.
I watch my father's flock,
but I do not hear their bells,
They trample upon the green sowings,
Oh! only too late my mind takes heed.
My dear mother fills up to bursting
my rucksack with provisions;
Fortune saw that I lost them.
I am prepared to endure a fast.
My father, my mother,
Entrust me now with nothing,
turn away! If I make mistakes,
think not that I am unaware of them!
