by Alfred Mombert (1872 - 1942)

Das Meer
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Ewig ewig ewig braust das Meer . . .

Und wir lagen in [festverschlossenem]1 Haus
[lachend]2 geschmiegt Brust an Brust,
dachten nicht mehr an das Meer,
das ewig ewig ewig braust.
Und [lachend geschmiegt]2 schliefen [wir]2 ein.
Da in der Nacht weckt mich das Weib
zitternd mit [aufgerissenem Aug']3:
"Mann, Mann, [siehst du]4das Schiff,
das kämpfende Schiff auf brausendem Meer?"
Wir stoßen den Laden auf --
Das Meer . . .

Ewig ewig ewig braust das Meer.
