Autumn
Language: English  after the Yiddish (יידיש)
The rain it spins
a dreary song
             of longing and
             of endless pain.

Of wandering blind
myself alone
              just like a hound
              then -- gone.

Lusterless gold,
love's dream that died,
              at my sorrow
              mutely looks on.

Around me boils
a glistening foam.
               The longing
               entices...

Autumn has come,
it weeps for me
               with a dark gaze
               fastened on mine.

For it has seen
my joy pass by,
                first smiting me
                then -- done.
