Nacht ist um mich her, im Mondenscheine
Feiert rings die blühende Natur.
Schwarz bedecket ruht die junge Flur,
Philomelens Lied erstarb im Haine.

Alles ruht so süß! Ich Armer nur
Stehe traurig auf der Flur und weine,
Suche überall nur sie, die eine,
Ach, und finde nirgends ihre Spur.

Wie die Blumen hier nach neuer Sonne
An den goldnen Strahlen zu erwarmen
Mit gesenktem Haupt sich innig sehnen,
So erträum ich mir in meinen Tränen
Jene neidenswerte Himmelswonne,
Die Verlorne wieder zu umarmen.

Al meu entorn és de nit, a la llum de la lluna
festeja arreu la natura florent.
Coberta de negror, reposa la verda prada,
la cançó de Filomela s’ha esvaït al boscatge.

Tot reposa tan dolçament! Només jo, pobre de mi,
resto trist a la prada i ploro,
la cerco per tot arreu, a ella, l’única,
ai, i enlloc trobo el seu rastre.

Com les flors aquí, que efusivament anhelen
escalfar-se de nou amb els raigs daurats
del sol, tot vinclant el cap,
així jo somiejo, enmig de llàgrimes,
aquell desitjable goig celestial
de tornar a abraçar a la que vaig perdre.
