Im Frühling
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
So die alten, trauten Wege
Einsam, Liebste, mit dir geh'n
Durch das grüne Laubgehege:
Süß'res kann mir nicht gescheh'n.
Tiefe Waldesschatten winken
Und es winkt die sonn'ge Flur,
Neues Leben hier zu trinken
An den Quellen der Natur.
Leise rauscht es in den Bäumen,
In den Gräsern weht es sacht,
Und wir gehen wie im Träumen
Schweigend durch die Frühlingspracht.
Sind die Lippen auch geschlossen,
Weiß ich doch: wie über mich,
Hat der Zauber sich ergossen,
Süßes Herz, auch über dich.

In springtime
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Thus to walk alone with you,
Most beloved, the old familiar paths
Through the green, leafy enclosures:
Nothing sweeter can happen to me.
Deep forest shadows beckon
And the sunny meadow, too,
To imbibe new life here
At the well-springs of nature.
There is a quiet soughing in the trees
And a gently breeze in the grasses,
And we walk as in a dream
Silently through the glory of springtime.
Though our lips are closed,
I nevertheless know: as the magic
Has inundated me,
Sweetheart, it has also inundated you.
