O Brüder schlummert sanft den süßen Schlummer,
Ein neuer Tag weckt euch zu neuem Kummer.

Auch in den stummen Gräbern ihr,
Ruht sanft von eurer Arbeit hier;
Vergessenheit ist euer Los,
Und euer Obdach dieses Moos.
O Brüder, schlummert sanft des Todes Schlummer,
Kein neuer Tag zu neuem Kummer.

Nel sublime splendore delle tue stelle;
Con tenere mani concedi,
ai figli della polvere, la tua quiete.
Fratelli miei dormite in pace il dolce sonno,
prima che a nuovi dolori vi desti un nuovo giorno.
 
Ed anche in queste tombe silenziose,
dai vostri affanni trovate riposo;
Dimenticare è il vostro destino,
e questo muschio sarà il vostro asilo.
Fratelli miei, dormite in pace il vostro sonno eterno,
più non vi desterà, a nuovi dolori, un nuovo giorno.
