Petrov stojal. Časy stučali.
Drožal v kamine ogonëk.
I gosti mračnye molčali.
Petrov stojal. Treščal kamin.
Časy pokazyvali vosem'.
Železnyj gradusnik sverkal.
Časy tainstvenno molčali.
Drožal v kamine ogonëk.
Petrov zadumčivo sadilsja
na taburetku. Vdrug zvonok
v prichožej bešeno zalilsja
i ščëlknul aglickij zamok.
Petrov vskočil i gosti tože.
Rožok ochotničij trubit.
Petrov kričit: «O Bože, Bože!» —
i na pol padaet, ubit.
