by Christian Morgenstern (1871 - 1914)

(Ein Nachtlied, im Jenseits vorzusingen)
Language: German (Deutsch)
(Ein Nachtlied, im Jenseits vorzusingen)

Die Mond-Uhr wies auf halber Ilf,
da rief ich laut: Gott hilf, Gott hilf!
Wie singt im nahen Röhricht
die Unke gar so töricht!

Uu, uu, uu, uu -
So geht es immer und immerzu!
Ich kann solch lautes Grübeln
der Kröte nur verübeln.

So schweig doch still, verruchtes Maul!
Sonst fress dich gleich der Silbergaul!
Er frißt dich auf wie Hafer -
drum werde stiller, braver! ...

Die Mond-Uhr wies dreiviertel Ilf,
verweht war mein: Gott hilf, Gott hilf! -
Im nahen Röhricht aber
erschien der Silbertraber.
