Zigeunerin (Tschingane)
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Turkish (Türkçe)
Our translations:  ENG

Incline your turban, I wish to touch it
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Incline your turban, I wish to touch it,
Feverish delights, you shall feel them,
Burning agonies in head and limbs,
Raging frenzy and childish weeping!
I promise you joy, you drunken one, and lie,
Enticingly I ensnare you, blind one, and deceive,
From out of my veil of rags and tatters
I tear the rose to wound with its thorns: --
From the marge I pick the flower bane for you: --
-- Imbibe the poison and be ready to die!
Laughingly I scorn the ogling pleas,
If you follow my footsteps, then I have slipped from your grasp!
When you, disdainful one, capture me after all,
Desiring me and [yet] proudly withholding yourself from me,
When, triflingly, you become my annihilator,
I shall make love to you and, while kissing [you], murder you!
