Nun ist’s genug. Schweigt still, empörte...
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Nun ist’s genug. Schweigt still, empörte Sinne!
Du Phantasie, unbändige, zerrinne!
Verstumme Leid! Erlösche Leidenschaft!
Besänftige dich, o sturmbewegte Brust!
Entfliehe weit, grausame Leidenslust!
Erstarke wieder, feste Willenskraft!
Erkühle dich, du Stirn von Fieber heiß!
Nicht flackre, Licht der Seele, ruhig brenne,
Und scheide still Gestaltung von Gegleiß,
Daß dein Verstand nur wiederum erkenne,
Das was er wußte, was er ewig weiß,
Und nimmer sich umsonst im Raum verrenne. --

Er nimmt Vernunft an; Himmel sei gelobt!
Der [Kampf]1 ist aus, Unweisheit ausgetobt!

It is enough now
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
It is enough now. Fall silent, enraged senses!
You unbridled imagination, dissipate!
Suffering, grow mute! Passion, be extinguished!
Calm yourself, oh storm-tossed breast!
Flee far away, cruel joy in suffering!
Grow strong again, firm willpower!
Grow cool, you hot-fevered brow!
Do not flicker, light of my soul, burn calmly,
And quietly separate design from false lustre,
So that once more your mind recognizes only
That which it knew, which it eternally knows,
And never goes astray for naught in the expanses. --

[The mind] sees reason; Heaven be praised!
The battle is over, unwisdom has finished running riot!
