by Mikhail Yur'yevich Lermontov (1814 - 1841)

Ballada
Language: Russian (Русский)
Our translations:  FRE
Nad morem krasavica-deva sidit;
I, k drugu laskajasja, tak govorit:

«Dostan' ozherel'e, spustisja na dno;
Segodnja v puchinu upalo ono!

Ty `etim dokazhesh' svoju mne ljubov'!»
Vskipela likhaja u junoshi krov',

I um jego obnjal nevol'nyj nedug,
On v pennuju bezdnu kidajetsja vdrug.

Iz bezdny perlovye bryzgi letjat,
I volny tesnjatsja i [mchatsja]1 nazad,

I snova prikhodjat i o bereg b'jut,
Vot milogo druga oni prinesut.

O schast'e! on zhiv, on skalu ukhvatil,
V ruke ozherel'e, no mrachen kak byl.

On verit' boitsja ustalym nogam,
I vlazhnye kudri begut po plecham...

«Skazhi, ne ljublju il' ljublju ja tebja,
Dlja perlov prekrasnoj i zhizn' ne shchadja,

Po slovu spustilsja na chjornoje dno,
V korallovom grote lezhalo ono. —

Voz'mi!» — i pechal'nyj on vzor ustremil
Na to, chto dorozhe on zhizni ljubil.

Otvet byl: «O milyj, o junosha moj!
Dostan', jesli ljubish', korall dorogoj».

S dushoj beznadezhnoj mladoj udalec
Prygnul, chtob najti il' korall, il' konec.

Iz bezdny perlovye bryzgi letjat,
I volny tesnjatsja i mchatsja nazad,

I snova prikhodjat i o bereg b'jut,
No milogo druga oni ne nesut.
