Nun sing, nun sing, Frau Nachtigall! Sing du's bei meinem Feinsliebchen: Komm schier, wenn's finster ist, Wenn niemand auf der Gasse ist, Dann komm zu mir! Herein will ich dich lassen! Der Tag verging, die Nacht brach an, Er kam zu Feinsliebchen gegangen. Er klopft so leis' wohl an den Ring: "Ei schläfst du oder wachst mein Kind? Ich hab so lang gestanden!" Canta ara, canta ara, senyor rossinyol! Canta prop de la casa de la meva estimada: vine quan tot just es fa fosc, quan no hi ha ningú al carrer, aleshores vine a casa meva! Jo et deixaré entrar! S’acabà el dia, la nit caigué, ell arribà a casa de l’estimada. Trucà suaument amb el picaporta: “Ei, dorms o vetlles, tu criatura meva? He esperat tant de temps!” “Tot i que hagis esperat tant de temps, jo no m’he adormit encara, deixava vagarejar els meus pensaments, on és l’estimat del meu cor, on ha restat tant de temps?” “On he restat tant de temps, això t’ho puc ben dir: bevent cervesa i també vi negre, amb una noia de cabells bruns, quasi t’havia oblidat.” La lluna esguarda a través de la finestra l’encisadora, dolça estimada, el rossinyol ha cantat tota la nit.
