Si tan sols sabés on et trobes en aquest moment, em sentiria millor per una breu estona. Si per damunt de les muntanyes em poguessis veure caminant al jardí, tot pensant en tu: ara allà les fonts mormolen tan singularment, de tristor, les flors es vinclen al vent. Ai, per mitjà dels ocellets damunt la vall et saludo molts milers de vegades! Tu deies sovint: que dolços i purs són els teus petits ulls blaus! Ara han de plorar constantment perquè no troben el que voldrien; els meus llavis vermells també empal·lideixen des que tu, dolç estimat, m’has deixat. Abans del que et pensis, es pot girar la truita, aviat tot trobarà la seva fi.
