Nach langem Frost, wie weht die Luft so lind!
Da bringt Frühveilchen mir ein bettelnd Kind.

Es ist betrübt, daß so den ersten Gruß
Des Frühlings mir das Elend bringen muß.

Und doch der schönen Tage liebes Pfand
Ist mir noch werter aus des Unglücks Hand.

So bringt dem Nachgeschlechte unser Leid,
Die Frühlingsgrüße einer bessern Zeit.

Després de tant temps de gebre, que dolç bufa el vent!
Un nen mendicant em porta violetes primerenques.

Ell té l’aire trist, i així la primera salutació
de la primavera m’aporta un sentiment de misèria.

I tanmateix, l’estimada penyora dels dies jolius
és per a mi més valuosa venint d’una mà infeliç.

Així la nostra pena porta a la nostra descendència
les salutacions de primavera d’un temps millor.
