by Joseph Karl Benedikt, Freiherr von Eichendorff (1788 - 1857)

So still in den Feldern allen
Language: German (Deutsch)
So still in den Feldern allen,
Der Garten ist lange verblüht,
Man hört nur flüsternd die Blätter fallen,
Die Erde schläfert -- ich bin so müd.

About the headline (FAQ)

Confirmed with Joseph Freiherrn von Eichendorff's sämmtliche Werke. Zweite Auflage. Erster Band. Leipzig, Voigt & Günther. 1864, page 578. Note: in some later editions, a poem titled "Herbstweh" uses this poem as its first stanza and Es schüttelt die welken Blätter der Wald as the second stanza. This may be the text used by Killmayer and Kornauth.
