Translation by Ferdinand Gregorovius (1821 - 1891)

Eh' du, Liebliche, die Augen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Our translations:  ENG
Eh' du, Liebliche, die Augen
Lachend zu den meinen lenkst,
Eh' du wieder sie mit einmal
Auf den Busen sinnend senkst:
Woll's mit Zeichen mir verkünden,
Daß ich mag mein Herze binden,
Und mit Kraft es zügelnd halten;
Denn es möchte sonst vor Lust,
Vor den großen Liebgewalten
Mir entspringen aus der Brust;
Daß derweil ich's möge binden,
Eh' mir's jauchzend will entschwinden.
