Der staar en sorg etsteds i mit liv,
den kaster saa lang en skygge.
Og hvor den falder, vil livet ei gro,
og sorgen kan ingen rygge.
Barmhjertige liv, jeg strækker mod dig
i længsel og bøn mine hænder.

Jeg kan ikke se, at den ender.
