Hab heute leider keine Zeit!

Warum denn nicht?

               Mein Jüngstes schreit,
das soll ich sauber putzen und waschen,
muß in der Küche die Süßmilch naschen
und hinterm Haus noch fangen die Maus!
So, nun sei lieb und laß mich aus!

In such a hurry?

Dear little cat,
do but stay for a little chat!

Unfortunately, I have no time today!

Why ever not?

               My youngest [kitten] is crying,
I must clean it up and wash it,
in the kitchen I must sip some sweet milk
and I still must catch the mouse behind the house!
So be kind now and count me out!
