Gäb's ein einzig Brünnelein
auf der weiten Erden, 
mancher litte Durstes Pein
ohn' erlabt zu werden. 

Aber Brünnlein ohne Zahl
laden ein zum Genusse, 
springen von Gebirg zu Tal
lustig hin zum Flusse. 

Gäb's ein einzig Bürschlein gut
auf der weiten Erde, 
da verzagte wohl der Mut
mancher Jungfrau werte. 

So giebt's Bürschlein auch genug.
Du bist nicht der eine, 
dünkst dich schön und gar so klug,
bist's nicht den ich meine.

sense poder ser assadollats.

Però fonts sense nombre
inviten al gaudi,
salten de la muntanya a la vall
joioses fins arribar al riu.

Si només hi hagués un xicot
a tota la terra,
això descoratjaria
a moltes preuades donzelles.

Però hi ha ben prou de xicots.
Tu no ets pas l’únic,
et creus bell i intel·ligent,
però tu no ets en qui penso.
