Der Frühling schwebt auf die Gefilde, Und lieblich wehet Zephir nur, Der Blumendüfte süße Milde Erhebt sich in der Luft Azur; In der Verklärung Wunderbilde Empfängt uns lächelnd die Natur. Schon prangen goldgeschmückt Sylphiden, Und Florens Reich erblüht verschönt; Rings waltet Lust und stiller Frieden, Der Hain ist nun mit Laub bekrönt. Geopend zijn des winters regels1, Verdwenen is zijn zilv'ren spoor; Hel blinken nu de waterspegels2, De leeuw'rik gaat er hoog vandoor; Gewekt als door vorst Winters zegels Weerklinkt alom het vreugdekoor. De lente zweeft over de velden, Zephyrus3 waait nu zacht en puur, De zoete geur van bloemenweelde Verheft zich in het luchtazuur, Met lichtdoorstraalde wonderbeelden Ontvangt ons minzaam de natuur. Sylfiden4 pralen al, de goudgeklede, En Flora's rijk ontbloeit zeer schoon, Alom heerst lust en stille vrede, Het bos draagt nu zijn loverkroon. Wie voelt, hem deelt geluk zich mede, Daar Eros roept met zoete toon. Ontvang daarom met groet en rede De lenteprins, de pracht'ge held. Met zachte kus schenkt hij ons vrede Die 's levens rozenbaan onthult, Die lief ons wenkt naar heerlijkheden En ieder hart met weldaad vult.
